my truck is in this group therapy and is wondering.....just kidding.
questions: what is a good thing to use to support a vehicle? i've got jack stands but they aren't always going to be tall enough. what could i set the stands on? i've got plans for suspension work on my car this summer and it will no doubt be off the ground for a few days at a time. are cement blocks safe? thanks.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Jan-03 AT 02:07 PM (EST)]I ran into that problem and just went out and bought a bigger set of jack stands. 6 ton stands at Northern Tool were about $25 pair. I just couldn't trust anything else I had in my garage to keep all that weight off of me. Pretty cheap life insurance in my book. I bet there are some guys here with great ideas though, might just be a matter of materials that I didn't have.
Come to think of it, the cement blocks must be safe, all those old plymouths that sit on blocks for years never seem to come off of them. LOL

I have the 6 ton jack stands as well - they really work great!

Wood 4x4's work good to get extra height. Don't use cheap wood like what you would see in skids/pallets. I too have big stands but when the truck sits high they don't help too much.
