I am looking for the frame vid plate location.
I read once where it was supposed to be on the passenger
side above the front tire springs somewhere, but
I still can't find it. This is for a '68 f250 4x4.
I have a door vid but the body may have been changed
and I am not sure I can totally trust it. From
what direction should I see it? Is it inside
or on top of the rail? Etc. Thanks!
Keep looking Steve, look forward of the axle, use a wire brush, it's there. And if some reason someone has removed it, just lift the cab off it's under there a second time.

In the cool still quiet of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
The VIN isn't on a plate, it is stamped into the frame. It is usually stamped twice, in two different places. You should find it on the top of the frame, on the right side, just above the axle or so. I have also found one of mine stamped on the outside rail of the frame under the cab, roughly in line with the center of the rocker panel. I think that too was on the right side, but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I have typically found the 4wd trucks were stamped on the top of the passenger rail, as stated, but between the shock tower and firewall. 2wd trucks seemed to always be stamped in front of the shock tower toward the rad support. Just my personal observations.
