Detroit Locker

OK, I've got a 31-spline 9-inch rear end.
So I got a 31-spline detroit locker.
Now here's my problem. My carrier bearings do not fit on the locker, inner race is way to small. The outter race I think is like a 2.891"
It's obvious I need a larger bearing, but will I need a new case to fit a larger bearing, or is there a bearing available to fit a detroit locker in the stock case.
Thanks

Are you sure on the detroit locker carrier? did you buy it used? could be for an 8.8 or a 28spline 9" . From my experience with offroading w/detroit lockers, they liked to break 9" axleshafts, but never had any trouble w/full floating axles, even the little dana60 30splines. Good luck with you locker but don't run bigger than 35s .

I'm certain it's a detroit case for a 9" rear. It's definately for a 31-spline unit. I checked.
I'm not running 35's. It's a 2wd, with stock tires.
I've been looking in the parts catalog, aftermarket companies offer 9" cases to accept 2.8, 3.06, or 3.25" O.D. bearings. All the detroit lockers I've seen in the catalogs don't specify any sizes, only with the cases. So....unless they make special bearings, I reckon I might be buying a case.

I would say you need a 2.89" OD race and 1.79 ID bearing. The NAPA bearing/race kit part number is BR 50.
