What constitutes being a Troll?

If you belong to this site and dont bleed ford blue, would that make you a troll or if you are objective about vehicles and dont like Ford any more than any other make, would that make you a troll?

I understand people throwing stuff out there, knowing most of you would get stirred up but sometimes I see people get called a troll and all I see was somebody who was objective about certain products offering their opinion.

being a troll has nothing what to do about bleeding Ford blue, any intelligent discussion pertaining to the relivent forum is usually more than welcomed. What constitues being a troll is out right trying to pick a fight(and not giving up), posting infromation about which the said poster has absolutly no idea what he/she is posting about(misunderstandings are forgiven), or living under a bridge.
I think the answer for the angle of the question your are asking, there have been a few posters(as a few moderaters bust out laughing) on this board that think that there certain product is the best no mater what and the comparable Ford product is garbage. If that is the case, then why is the poster even here on this forum if their product is so much better?
Hope that may shed some light on the subject for you.

Hey KICK, glad to see you're still around.

It's Ok to be objective, but user tone does not travel well across the internet, so you must choose your words very wisely.

You had a thread over in Ford vs. Comp recently. Go back and take a look at your opening post once again. You could have probably changed only three or four key words in that post, and your responses (inluding mine) would have been totally different.

There is no eye to eye contact, body language, or user personality traits on the internet...it's all in the words my friend.....that's all we got.

A troll will often use baiting techniques...then set the hook. Baiting is used to dupe a thread, forum, individual or anyone that gets involved. We have seen this in the last couple weeks.

In one case it was likely from one of our own. Quickly discovered.

Some chunk bait and run. They like to sir it up but can't stand the heat or the smell.

There are some that are so good at it they have become masters at baiting. I think I'll start referring to them as B.M.s though...Baiting Masters.

Baiting Masters
There's another term for this, but we, in the sake of family oriented, won't go there.

Generally you would see this happen when someone, who may not have earned their credibility wings, throws out an unsupported position as fact.

Even at that most newbies would not be labeled as Trolls if their position was, as you say, "objective" as most trolls couldn't present an objective argument if someone wrote it out for them.

Some Trolls strike opposing dialog just to see who they can crank up.

I find this ironic.

An Internet "troll" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the Internet. He (and it is usually he) tries to start arguments and upset people.
It would appear as though this article may have been written by a recovering troll, as the bolded text has potential to offend.
