cruise control problems.
I have 2003 Explorer EB 4.6. At 33,750 miles the cruise stopped working. Dealer could not duplicate. Now 7 months later at 38,000 it has stopped engaging and/or the green indicator flashing and no engage.
Took to dealer today. Just called back saying the Cruise Servo is bad. $300 to replace. When I told him it was failing while under warranty he said since it is 7 months later they would not cover it. he called to see if they would "assist" in the repair.
He called back and told me he spoke with someone at Ford who pulled the records and that they would not cover it since there were no records of service there! He said they look at "loyalty" as part of the criteria as to whether they are going to cover a repair. I told him I do my own oil changes, etc. and as for loyalty I have a 2006 F250 Diesel at $45k, 2003 Explorer $35k+, 2002 Mustang, and had a 2003 F150 Supercrew at $25k, not to mention all the other Fords my family has bought over the years. At least a quarter of a million dollars worth! Now they want to screw me over a cruise control servo that at least began failing while in warranty!!!
Sorry to vent but I am not happy about this. If yours is in warranty have it fixed now! If not do like me and search for Cruise Servo and maybe do it yourself.
Good luck and if you don't mind let me know how you make out.
