I just bought a 1990 F250 Super Cab truck with the long bed. It has the 460/7.5 Liter V8. It is a two wheel drive automatic with 54,500 miles on it. It has EFI and is the XLT with the towing package.
I haven't even picked it up yet but probably will next week. I paid $3,000 for it and will use it to pull a 26 ft fifth wheel trailer and my 26 foot boat.
I really don't know anything about trucks so I'm wondering how I can find out some more about this one when I finally receive it. How do I tell the rear
end gear ratio for instance? I didn't see overdrive in the ad sheet so I guess that didn't come until later years?
Any general info on this year truck would be of interest to me.
A 1990 F250 should be either an E4OD or a C6. The C6 is 3 speed, no OD. the E4OD is 4 spd (OD). Look at the transmission pan and count the bolts, then search on here. C6 has 17 bolts, not sure how many E4OD has (20, if I remember right).
For the axle, look at the tag on the inside of the driver side door, and search here for the axle code. It will be 2 characters.
