Is $450 a decent price for this system ?
SI/DO Original 40 series muffler, stainless tips and installation ? (piping isn't polished)
This is what three local shops are asking, and the others I called are higher.
I live in Southern Maryland about 1 hr south of D.C.
I'm having it done on Monday and was just wondering if this is a fair price?
I can get the kit onlline and do it myself for a little cheaper but is it really worth it (do it yourself vs. shop)?
With a truck that new, the exhaust system SHOULD be easy to work on, but not always (I'm originally from PA and remember how quick things can rust/corrode back there). If you have a helper and lots of time/patience, installing a kit can save you some $$$. However, if the kit doesn't fit quite right then you're stuck.
That price doesn't sound bad, plus parts and labor are covered by the same place. If it were me, I'd spring for the $450 but that's just MHO. I've worked on enough exhaust systems over the years (no, I'm NOT saying how many) to know that they can be a pain sometimes. Good luck whichever way you go.
I ended up going w/ the local shop. I had a coupon which brought it down to $420. It looks and sounds great!!! Was worried about it being too loud but the wife I don't think it is. The pipes exit right at the corner of the rear bumper on a 45 degree angle (and did I mention that they look great) .
As soon as I figure how to post some pics, I will.
what size outlets are you running from the muffler? i currently had 2 1/4, and want to go bigger to 2 1/2. just wondering what you have since you sound happy.
