I would like to replace my '85 fourspeed with a T-5. I'm rebuilding the truck for trail riding and it would be nice to have the extra gear since I'm planning to drive the truck great distances to go riding. I know the T-5 will mate to the 300 I-6, but will it adapt to the NP208F T-case? Anbody done it before or know of an adapter?
Thanks! I sent out an email to them asking if it was possible and how to go about it with the T-5. I'm not familiar with the ZF you speak of, can you fill me in on some info please? Thanks for the help.
I second the ZF tranny. Do a search as this very topic was just discussed not to long ago. A search for ZF will yield many results as well but a quick break down is that the ZF is a much stronger tranny and it was designed for trucks.
Plus the cost of converting a T-5 to a 4x4 set up will cost more in the long run than just getting a ZF tranny. The t-5 will not handle the weight of a truck for very long and if off road use is in the picture the t-5 will have a very short life.
