Well, the bad stuff finally hit me. The X hit 101089 miles, and I've gotten an oil leak and a cooling leak. My mechanic says that the rear-main is leaking, the valve cover seals are "seaping". During the checkout, he showed me that the front end is shot... Upper & lower ball joints, and tie-rod ends. In the end, I had the water pump replaced, and I'll get the oil leaks a taken care of in the next few weeks. Dunno when I gonna get the front end work done, but it'll have to be before the end of Feburary due to inspection, and my front tires are shot so theres no point in putting new rubber on a bad front end to tear them up too.
To top that all off, I was planning replacing the warped front rotors
So, anyone got any thoughts on upgrades to the front end besides polyurethane bushings... I figure if I'm going to have it torn apart, I might as well put in better stuff.
Got a 2000x PSD 2WD. I'd like to put on 285's when I do the tires.
Now just be thankful that you dont get to throw in the $400 a piece four wheel drive hubs. Thankfully my front end work has fallen at different times. One hub here and there then the ball joints then another hub. I already run the 285 tires and want a leveling kit to go larger. Not sure if I want to until I can replace the factory junk wheel bearings with the dynatrac kit.
Good luck with yours. Sorry to hear that you found out all of it one month before inspection. You may want to fix it in the order of priority for the inspection.

warn now makes premium hubs for the x well under $400.00 installed--the only thing i see is they sit back in the center cap gotta reach in to operate
I am sorry. I meant the wheel bearing units not the hubs. I am looking at a set of the warns but I think that I may wait until I can afford the dynatrac since the set includes new hubs for the axles with more splines. I would hate to replace then take them back off.
