I talked with Ken on the phone and was going to buy an engine from him.
I was in the middle of a buyout on a crap reman engine I got from another place, they kept messing me up with my money.
I plow snow and the season was getting close.
I got my money a couple days before Thanksgiving and DPS must have been closed for the holidays.
So I was worried about snow and went with a salvage yard engine and had the fuel system done here locally so I could get my truck on the road before we had snow.
We have not had any snow at all this year, so I wish I would have waited.
But we all know about hind sight.
The money was right on the salvage yard motor and it runs good.
I also know that I could have had more if I would have waited.
But then I could not chance losing my snow customers if my truck was down and we got dumped on with a big storm.
I have been running hot diesels for a long time now. I learned a lot of what I know on the big rigs. I have over 6 million miles under my belt from those days when I was a Colorado meat hauler. My big truck would blow six foot flames out the stacks when I stood on the fast pedal at night. The only thing I miss about those days was the look on another drivers face I was passing when I dropped it into high gear at 85 MPH and then I was gone. Yes I used to be one of those high speed trucks you cuss as they blow you across the road, I had a very long way to go and a very short time to get there.
I like the ceramic coated piston DPS has.
I also like the head studs.
I like the Stage 1 injectors and the IP's he has.
I also like the O ring head gaskets so you can really crank the boost up.
That was going to require water injection since I have no room for an intercooler because of my snow plow bracket. I have a 1/2" thick steel plate where the intercooler needs to set.
We talked about the milled pistons as well, but since I must be able to start my truck when it is cold outside we were going to keep that to a minimum if at all.
