i have a 83 f150 2wd 300i6 and i live in california where there are some strict emission tests. i want to put a holley 390 on my truck but it probably wont smog so i was wondering if i could smog with the stock carb then switch to the 390 then when it comes time to smog put the stock one on. i guess what i am trying to say is once youve made the change can you go back to stock?

I would imagine so. You can do it with everything else, so why not a carb? Its an 83, so there is no computer $#!+ to deal with. The only thing you would run into would be tuning them each time you swap them out. Other than that, I can't think of anything. Also, I don't know jack about emissions laws (THANK GOD!) but there should be stuff that is 50 state emissions legal so, you could look for something similar to the holley 390 that was 50 state legal and then use that.
