I just purchased a tonneau cover for my 2004 Ranger and am wondering if anyone knows if I need to remove the pastick rail guards which come standard on it.
Which rail guards? The ones on the edge?
Also depends on what tpe of Tonneau cover you purchased. Is it the hard plastic type or something else?
If you have the edge rails I had to remove mine. I relaced them with some plastic rail cap covers, I think Wade brand. Worked fine with those.
The rails are the plastic ones that come standard any more, just L-shaped and go over the edge of the bed to prevent scratching from items larger than the bed. The cover is a vinyl tarp type cover.
I had a had plastic one, but my brother has the vinyl tarp type on his s-10. He has bed rail caps on and it worked fine. The rail caps he has are not part of the bed liner though so he cna still get the clamp things on there no problemo.
