Just returned home after visiting my mom. On the way back on I-80 near Sacramento I saw a large truck with several flattened vehicles. Most were mid 80's pieces of crap, but there on the back was the remnants of a turqouise 65 F100. Wow! It happens all the time, but you would think the owner would make an attempt to sell it to one of us. I think the state is paying 500 for old cars so maybe that is what is happening. I saw dozens of old trucks in Nevada County for sale on this trip. I just wondered if this is a nationwide trend. Hate to see our potential sources of parts end up in the scrapyard next to the Yugos.
Yeah I was lucky enough to find 1 (one) 63 f100 at the closest wrecking yard 40 miles away it was picked as clean as a thanksging turkey but the metal was still intact and to my surprise a stater was dangling from a wire. Scattered about, on the ground was what remained of the speedometer that was it. so the search continues for some small parts I need.
Unfortunately, the same seem's to be the same down here as well, each week it's getting harder to find a 60's below in the local salvage yards. I try to remind my buddies to keep an look out for any around here for me. I wish I could afford to stock pile them some where for my use and others enthusiast's.
