I just bought a 06PSD, and I have a question regarding the glow plugs. Well, let me first tell you that i don't plug my truck in at night, due to the temp not being that cold. In the morning, I will turn the key and wait to the glow plug indicater goes off....I will then do it again thinking it will heat the plugs better. Is this ok, will it hurt anything? Let me know. Thanks Pat
Been reading the manual on how to take care of the deisel engine. It pretty much just advised me to change the oil, fuel filter and it should run great. Any other things i should know to keep this awsome machine, so far, running good. Imput?

I was told that the glow plugs stay on for 2 minutes after the key is turned to on, even after the light goes out. So I don't think you have to cycle the key off and on again.
yes they do stay on after the light goes out, it took me a while to figure out why about 2 minutes after I start the truck the lights wil brighten up or the fan will speed up, it is because the glow plugs turn off and quit drawing a load.
I just saw a little info i thought was interesting. When you start the powerstroke, the charging system is turned of till the glow plugs are off, to prevent high amp/voltage damage to the glow plugs. The computer takes care of this. You can put a volt meter on the battery then start the truck. You will see that you have battery voltage then less as the the truck runs on the batterys, the click the glow plugs are commanded of by the computer then the alternator kicks in. voltage will start to return to normal. engine temp with outside temp seem to play into this as well.
