97 diesel with a 5 spd. tranny...cylinder head gaskets were gone previously and c ringed...not sure if plugs were done too--anyways--these plugs im talking about are to hold oil....the one on the FRONT of the head went out already and i replaced it..(rubber o ring on the end of plug) and now the rear of my cylinder head is all oily....same with the side of the block...and all the way down to the bellhousing inspection cover...wondering if anybody has replaced this plug before and how hard it is..(considering it's the rear one..)--also--it's a 5 speed truck and has anybody ever replaced the clutch on this year truck or one identical to it?...any help would be great....thanks.
The oil galley plugs in the back are a pain to reach, but if you are also dropping the tranny to do the clutch it will be easier to get to.
The clutch is not difficult at all if you've done one before. It installs the same way as any other clutch. Actually, with external hydraulics it's easier than some. The ZF's are big heavy tranny's, but once it's out of the way there are no surprises.
