4x2 to 4x4

i was wanting to know if anybody out there knows how hard it would be to convert a 2wd 76 f-250 to a 4wd setup. a coworker of mine at one time told me it is as simple as finding the right front axle, a divorced transfer case and some new driveshafts. i know in all of that i will have to upgrade the suspension and yada yada. just looking for some ideas right now..... not really in a position to do any of that just yet.

Save your self a royal pita, a ton of money and a lot of time and buy a 4X4. It is
"simple" if you have all the parts, a lift, all of the tools needed, an alignment rack, lots of cash and some one else to do the work.

The easiest way is with a donor truck, that way it wont nickel and dime you to death.

That's what I did, and it still nickel and dimed me to death. Once you tear into something, you find all kinds of things that are wrong. Frozen brake cylinders, split brake lines, worn spring mount holes... the list goes on. Still, a parts truck is "easiest"

I just finished mine, while I had it apart I converted the steering, rebuilt the transfer case, transmission. If I had it to do over I'd get a complete 78-79 4 wheel donor truck, gastanks, steering are better.
