Check out these codes I pulled
I am new to working on fuel injected vehicles and those with computers, but I though I would give it a try and throw my questions at you guys as they come up. The 88 F-250 (in signature) that I recently picked up was (is) running pretty rough, i.e., rough idle, wants to bog down when hitting passing gear, fuel economy is down, etc. I bought a code reader and this is what I pulled this afternoon: KOEO codes were 41, 53, and 96. I needed to check the timing but I couldn't find the spout that is suppose to be unplugged before taking it. I think I was looking in the wrong place, but can anyone tell me what it looks like and where it is located? Also, I didn't do any checks with the engine running. Hope to get all of this done tomorrow after I get the timing checked. My question is what sequence to take from here. Do I need to wait and check the timing and the KOER test before going any further? Should I perform a complete tune-up before doing anything else at all (I don't have any idea how long its been since a tune up was done on this engine). Or, should I get the meter out and try to start checking the sensors that were throwing codes? Thanks for helping me out with how to proceed from here.
