I have a 79 F250 supercab, 4x4, ranger package, and I want to add a/c to it. I looked at the wrecking yard this weekend for stock a/c and found two types when looking at 78 & 79 trucks.
The first kind looks factory as it is controlled from the normal heater control panel above the radio. This system had the large plastic housing inside the engine compartment.
The second kind has the a/c temp & fan controls under the middle vent. There were two *****. There was not the large housing in the engine compartment, it looked like it was installed under the dash under the glove box. The heater control panel looks stock without any a/c controls.
Is the first one I described the factory setup, and the second one a dealer installed setup? Which one is better?
Also, where can I find a new headliner? Can you buy them new? I looked in the autokrafters catalog, but they are for standard cabs.
the first is the stock a/c. Unless you have some way of taking and recharging freon I wouldn't recomend that you went this way. I would actually look for a newer addon type of a/c. The only bracket you would really need mounts on your driver side head. It is just a flat mount
