I was just wondering if anyone knew if my hubs are auto/ manual or just manual.
When I mean auto/ manual, I mean where its in auto, and all that I have to do is turn the switch to 4x4 high. Or if the auto hubs don't work, I can manually lock them. Is that what I have? The previous owner said that they are stock hubs. Just curious! Thanks....
(it doesn't help that the words have faded away on the hubs...)
If you have the button/switch on the dash they are auto hubs. If you can also see the hub on the outside it is auto & manual. You can look at the hub itself and it will say auto where it should be located (turned to) for auto use and lock where it would be if you had to get out and lock it.
But, as a newcomer to this forum, you should know that there is a fairly common problem with these hubs not working properly. They commonly get dirty and fail to engage or the vacuum hoses deteriorate and leak. Thank goodness for the **** on the hub.
If you do a search, you should find a number of threads where this was discussed.
