Question on front/back difference tire sizes. After the purchase of my 90 Bronco (used), I noticed the front tires (32x11.5x15) and rear tires (33x12.5x15) were not the same. As most of you know, this is a NO NO in terms of 4x4’s. I have ran this tires set in 4x4 but only in snow and for only about a total of 100 miles per year if that in central Okla and on highways. Had them on for over 6 years now.
As I am nearing the time for new tires, I have a pondering question--If I use 4x4 minimal, can I still get away with different tires sizes as I have now. I like the way it sits with the larger tires on the back, yet don’t want to rip out the hubs over time (they still lock last time I checked).
I wouldn't do it......there is way too good a chance that damage will be done to the transfer case.....there is no viscus coupler or diff in there.....so something has to give should you hit a patch of high traction surface while in 4X4.
Screwing up the hubs would not even be half as bad........
Ah yes, now we are talking $$$$ and pain. Seen other tire comments on ur part and thanks for the vision. Think I will stick with 32s --so now off to the tire shop.
