If this engine is a 302 it will measure approx 10 inches across the rear of the intake manifold, while the 351 & Modified 400 will measure approx 11 & 1/2
inches across at the same place. The 351 also has 2 extra bolts on the intake manifold but right now my memory or lack of & the wifes yelling at me to come do something for her has blured the right location. either the front or the rear of the manifold, & i'm thinking is is the front.

Reason: spelling
I think the 260 was a black block? or perhaps that's cuz it's a 62 mercury (meteor) my next purchase
Maybe, I do not know. I remember the 289 and 260 Fords as being about this color. Mercury had its own color. But I expect we will find out it is a 351 from what others have posted.
The color don't make the engine. If it did I'd make millions buying scrap engines, painting them C**bby Red and selling them to Yuppies for $100 a pop as 350's.

That one posted looks more like Mopar Blue. Maybe it is a 318 in drag.
Joe it's a 351C or a 351/400M if you look at the corner of the head(between the dipstick and white wire in the pic) it will have a 2 if it's a C. If it's blank it's an M. You can find a 4 cast there but thats unlikely because your pic is of a 2bbl motor.
The angled valve covers look like my Cleveland motor. I can't tell from the picture, but if the distributor doesn't go through a hole in the intake manifold and the body of the water pump is cast into the block, it's a Cleveland.
