OBD2 port went bad

I have a 97 stroker and a superchips programmer and I am at my high perf setting on the tuner, but it recommends not to tow with this setting so I went to change it to tow-perf and I plugged it in and nothing happened. I plugged it into my buddys truck and it lit right up, my question is can I swap ports with a 96 powerstroke or do i have to get this from the dealer. My port has a pin that is gone. Thanks

Make sure you don't have any blown fuses, as there is something else that is also powered through that ports fuse. Cigar lighter maybe...can't remember.
