Mass Air'd...again
The speed density setup has worked well, but in an effort to take another step closer to a turbo'd farm truck, I installed my old mass air harness, air meter and PCM. I first tried using a LMAF, and the truck had some serious idle issues. I tried changing the transfer function, but it didn't seem to help any. One of two things could be the cause of this; the boost bypass discharge is to close to the back of the air meter and causing some turbulance issues, or the thing is just AFU. So I installed a Pro-M Univer Blow-Thru between the IC'er discharge and throttle body. I loaded a transfer function from an 80mm LMAF and that got it running. I spent about an hour doing some road tuning and I got the A/F ratios dialed in nicely now. The only other thing I have left is to change the shift points, but I'll wait until the track opens and do that over there.
Idle is a bit smoother now and throttle response is a little tighter...overall, I'm pleased.
