I'm searching for posts as I write this, I'm just looking for help in case anyone has some good info. I'm installing a 3.5" Fabtech Hanger/Shackle lift (leveling kit) on a 2003 F-250 4x4 (7.3 diesel). Does anyone have any tips on the install.
Also, are there any other parts (extended brake line, pitman arm, adj track bar) that are going to be needed? I'd like to find out ahead of time so I don't have to find out later on after it's on already.
The Fabtech 3.5" is a pretty bare bones lift, so nothing to difficult about it. You may need a breaker bar to get the front spring eye bolts to come loose. The Loctite they use is some pretty stout stuff. You can also use heat from a torch, but you want to be careful to heat the nut up just enough to liquefy the loctite, but not damage the bolt. Just don't get the nut red hot and you'll be okay. Usually a couple seconds with a little hand held torch is enough. You might to want to buy an adjustable trac bar just to make the job a little easier and be able to center the axle better. Unless you're planning on adding a drop trac bar bracket, I wouldn't add a drop pitman arm. You want to try and keep the drag link and the trac bar parallel, to prevent suspension binding. I'm not sure whether or not you'll need extended brakelines. That should be about all the parts you'll need. Good luck.
Will any adj track bar work? 4 wheel parts has a 10% off sale online, so they have a procomp chromoly track bar on sale for $151.19 ( you see the sale price once you add it to the cart)
anger65 - I installed a Fabtech 3.5 hanger kit on my 1999 F-350 this past summer. I installed the hangers and new shocks (Bilstein 5100) and had wicked bump steer. In order to correct the bump steer I needed to drop my track bar and drag link which required an adjustable track bar, drop track bar bracket, and drop pitman arm. Now it goes down the road just like it did when it was brand new. The adjustable track bar I got from Fabtech and I got the drop track bar bracket and drop pitman arm from SuperLift. Hope that helps you.
