Smile Question?????

First I want to say I think this site is geat!!!!!! I just purchased my first Ford, wasnt sure if i would like it but i made the right choice. I have a 99 f250 superduty with the v10 in her. I needed something to pull my camper, after alot of reading and asking questions I found that this was 1 of the trucks for me to look at. I have done some reading on this site about ticking in the motor, every one has a opinion on what it may be but i havent come across any posts that say the ticking goes away once the engine has ran for a couple of minites. When i dont let the truck run for a couple of minutes the truck does not have the "whistle" sound that i hear from this big girl. The truck has 154k on her. Engine compartment looks nice and clean, oil level is good. Any help or ideas would be great. Once again I want to say that this site is great and i will be spending the next few hrs doing some more reading.

thx guys

Your ticking goes away or doesn't? The ticking sound goes away once the motor warms up slightly. Depending on your build date (on the tag inside the driver's door at knee height) you may have a "piston slap" motor. I had piston slap on my '99 (build 02/1998) and Ford got me a new motor at around 22,000 miles (I think), it was still inside warranty.
