Question Another Cab Swap Question

I posted this question on the 67-72 section and got no response.Thought I might have better luck in this section.
I have an '86 F150 4x4 and was wondering if I could switch the '86 cab and bed to a '71 model?
I've always liked the way the 71&72's looked but those model 4x4's are hard to find.
I think a '71 with a more modern running gear (EFI 5.0,AOD trans,disc brakes,etc.) would make a great truck.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome
I didn't read the read first section i'll admit but, even after I did I still don't think I put the question in the wrong place.Scrolling through the 80-86 board I saw other cab swap questions and also questions on tranny's, exhaust, fuel injection, etc.Maybe i sould have worded my question different like, whats the difference between a 71 and 86 frame?width, mounting location for cab/bed?but still which forum to put it in?67-72 or 80-86?
thanks again for the welcome

frames are different widths, and lengths are alittle off too. lotta work. However, the front half is identical to a 73-79, and some minor work to fit the box.

Hey I just signed up here. I dont have final purchase on it yet but i'm buying my buddies truck as long as I think i can get it registered. im not sure what year the F250 part is but is between 83 and 87. Its an F250 frame/chasis with an 83 Ranger body and bed on it. Its got 24 inches of lift I belive. For all intensive purposes its a mini monster truck. Im getting it for a few hundred bucks, he put water in the cooling system and forgot it wasnt antifreeze two years ago and when winter came around freeze plugs popped and the block cracked. Im planning on looking for a 351 to drop in it. Its a beastly looking machine ill get some pictures of it next weekend when im home from school. big frame with little cab on top looks pretty cool. I dont know the details of how they did it
