Edge tuner

My new Edge tuner came today, thanks for the quick shipping Discount Power Parts, and I have a question about it. Can it be disconnected after a program is loaded or does it have to remain connected to the truck? I have 26k left on my warranty and I don't want to mount the pod on the dash and advertise the programmer to my dealer. After the warranty period, I will mount the pod and enjoy all the features of the programmer, but for now it needs to be in stealth mode. So if anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have had one for a few weeks. Yes it can be removed and you can run stealth... however it is so easy to install the pod and take it off before you go to the dealer ...Why lose all the functionality of the display?

I mounted mine.. you must remember to push the PCM code back to the Ford code everytime you take it to the dealer.. if they flash your PCM because of a TSB you will not be able to reconnect your Edge back. You will have to send it back to Edge to get it reset.. there is a charge.. see the cautions in your manual. If you remove the code and don't do a drive cycle they can tell the code was reflashed... or that you disconnected the battery to work on something.... Guess what you tell them.. ?????

I have 26K of free oil changes with my sales package. I pushed the Ford program to the PCM yesterday and I did a some driving and hopefully I might make a drive cycle before I make it to the dealer tomorrow... removed the Edge today.. took all of 2 min.. I will reinstall it tomorrow night.. will take another 3 min.. I use Velcro...

Jack..

Installed the number 2 setting tonight and all I can say is wow. Quicker throttle response, firmer shifts, revs just a little higher before each shift but the best thing is the way it pulls harder. I can't wait until the local 1/8 mile track opens so I can make runs with the different settings and see what the differences really are. I realize this big old screw isn't a race car but it is sure a lot more fun to drive now.
