My dad has a 92 F150 300 six with auto and 4x4. We believe it has the E4OD in it just don't know which one. I believe there is an HA and CA. How can you tell which one it is and what is the difference of the two? We tried looking on it but couldn't find any codes.
He was driving down the highway going about 65mph when the tranny made aloud bang. He pulled over looked under the truck and under the hood, but did not see anything. He got back in and started driving, but it would not shift right. When he looked in his mirror there was a cloud of smoke behind him, so he stopped again and the trans was leaking tons of fluid out of the front between the bell and block. Anyone have an idea of what broke.
Our main concern is just finding the right rights. One more question does the 300 six have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as a 302? We got a lead on a good trans and transfercase from a 302 F150 for $100.
