New Drive Shaft
has any 1 here ever tried to install a new drive shaft into your expedition? I was wondering how much this might cost for parts and installation. I have a 99 exp 4x4 xlt. anny info would be sooo appriciated. Gerry

I was just looking into this last week. Parts only for a new Driveshaft assembly(this incldes slip yolk and u-joints for a 2wd model) was ~$300 from the dealer. You have to give them your VIN for them to spec the correct driveshaft. I would not pay for install, as all you need is a 12pt 12mm socket to remove 4 bolts that hold it on. The whole assembly is very light, so doing it at home should not be an issue. New shafts come balanced from the factory, so there should be no vibration issue. If there is, you can always index the shaft on your own at home (rotate 180 deg and re-install).
