Torqshift Swap
Torqshift Swap
I feel that my 2000 F350 PSD 4r100 has more miles behind it then ahead of it. Anyone heard of a way to swap in a newer Torqshift tranny behind this beast, or would I have computer problems?
First you would need an adaptor to bolt it to the 7.3L. The TorqShift is not made with a bolt pattern that will bolt to the 7.3.
That's the easy part. The hard part will be creating a computer that can run the TorqShift. The only ones that Ford makes has to also be running an engine to run the trans, and there isn't one of those computers that can run a 7.3.
This swap is just about impossible.

Having an adaptor/spacer built probably would not present a problem, but the computer would. Is there an aftermarket shift controller for one of these things that can run independent of the engine?
I am out of my league here but here goes. All you guys running a custom chip out there have the luxury of telling the guy to program what you want, so is there any reason you could get a chip that would run the torqshift and run the 7.3 together? It seems that it would work, given that it is just computer codes. So if you maybe called up a programmer person and asked them that would seem to be your next move.
If I am dreaming someone tell me, it seems feasible to me though.
