Help! Trying to change the timing belt and have it stripped to the crankshaft pulley and cannot get the bolt loose! Anyone have an idea to stop the engine from turning? 5 speed in 1st gear emergency brake set and we are still turning the motor up to the point that we cannot get any more torque on the bolt. Help!
If you use a breaker bar on the socket, wedge the breaker bar to a frame member, and then bump the starter. This will usually break the crankshaft bolt loose.
Any insight on resetting the timing belt. It looks like the belt had jumped a tooth on the camshaft pulley. Just need to reset the timing and give it a trial run. Hoping this will stop the bucking and no power.
When the camshaft timing mark and the oil pump shaft align, where should the keyway on the crank be aligned?

I'm glad your bolt broke loose!!! Sorry I can't be any more help on the timing belt alignment, I don't have any experience at all on the 2.3L 4 cylinder. But, with the resources on this site, I'm sure somebody will answer your question.

you only need the cam and crank lined up. for the crank. there is a notch on the crank pulley that needs to be lined up with the TDC on the outer timing cover.
