eratic idle

well i dont know if its really erratic but my 2004 explorer idles at about 600 rpms. it will stay there steady then it will studder and drop to about 400 rpms then it will go back to the 600 and be steady for a little while and then will do the same thing. if i step on the gas petal just enough to raise the idle to about 900 the up and down goes away. is there any way to raise the idle on this vehicle? the vehicle only has 9000 miles but i dont have time to bring it back to the dealer right now.it is also not very responsive to the gas petal. i know it is drive by wire but so is my 2005 e 250 and it has none of the issues. any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

I am thinking a vacuum leak? May be a tps or some other sensor has gone bad. Has there been anyone under the hood recently? Oil change, Fluids checked anything? I would make the time to get it to the dealer ASAP as this should be there problem.

Definitely take it to a dealer to deal with it under warranty. I seem to remember some of these models (either '03's or '04's) that the dealers would update the programming to deal with some issues. Taking it in for the warranty work will both document the issue on your truck and it will prevent the dealer excuse of "it must be something you did".
