Slow power windows

My wife drives an older Buick Skylark, and the power windows are getting very slow. The passenger side will move about an inch, then quit. The driver's side is getting real slow, too. Is there a way to lubricate something? Or are the motors themselves getting tired?

First, you need make sure the tracks are lubricated (where the window goes up and down, the sides). I believe you want to use a silicone spray. But, probably the motors are tired. How old is the car?

Silicon sprays stands the best chance of reviving them. Though if the motor is worn out, it needed replacement. Sometimes it is just from the plastic bead or strip of plastic that drives the window up or down has worn out. Might be able to find that in the HELP! section.

Just an update- The silicone revived the driver's side window really well; it didn't seem to help the passenger side, which barely moves. I took the door panel off; nothing seems worn, and the window moves freely. I guess it's the motor. Ironically, that window has almost never been used. The car is a like-new 1990 that my mother-in-law left us with 19k on the clock.

Watch the plastic stuff from "HELP". They use the wrong type or grade of plastic and many parts are very brittle. Only use their plastic parts if you absolutely can not get it from the OEM dealer. The dealer parts may be 2x more expensive but they are well worth the price difference.
