What's going on here, the thing wont turn or anything! I removed the bolt at the base of course but it ain't moving. i hosed the base down with plenty of WD-40, still nothing, any ideas on this one people?
I had occasion to work on a similar problem. It was a 351C, and I used a small hammer and a drift, tapping (very carefully) to loosen it. Turns out, there was a lot of sludge build-up on it.

WD-40 is lousey for loosening anything-spray the dist.base with penetrating oil over a couple of days.FEs[360,390,]were notorious for this-I had to break one one time to get it out.
yep had the same problem with my 351M. I used penetrating oil, a good soak down for several days and finally came loose after I had the engine out and on a stand. Try not to break it. Or you can have a machine shop drill it out.
If you have the time let the penetrating oil work on it for a while if your in a hurry use a hammer and punch around the base. I ran into the same problem years ago and was able to knock it loose with a hammer and not damage it.
I got it out finally. Carb cleaner spray, some gentle persuading back and forth with a hammer and a 2 x 4 on the tabs where the vacuum advance bolts on, along with some swift upward yanks on the intake since it was already loose, and it finally dislodged.
