I was always curious about fuel milage with tuners. I know most of the diesel tuners say that they will increase your MPG but what about the gas ones. More power is great but so is more MPG. I didn't buy mine for the fuel milage but more sure would be nice.
History-wise, Fords are always slightly richer than perfect. A chip will usually lean the mix a little bit for better performance, and therefore, more MPG (slightly).
I saw a change in my '96 t-bird 4.6L when I put in a Superchips. Besides the nice throttle response and extra 33ft/lbs of torque (not at peak, but just below that), I got an extra MPG or two out of it. It went from 24MPG to as much as 26!
I don't expect to get 20 MPG out of a V10 Excursion but a few extra MPG would be great. In terms of power, I don't need any extra and I can't justify spending $400 for a tuner to get 1 more MPG.
the best incress of fuel milage on a v10 is training your right foot that it has a raw egg under the pedal. my tuner did nothing as far as making the mog's any better
