Leaky rear end

Got a 70 F250 2wd and I noticed today that it is leaking from the front of the rear end. Easy to fix? Just the seal? Drop the drive line, dig out the seal and replace? Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Is it leaking between the axle housing and the removable center section (pumpkin), or at the front of the center section where the drive shaft connects?

Check and see if the housing vent is plugged before doing any time consuming repairs.

Yes it appears to be leaking at the front where the drive line hooks up. I'll also check the vent. Thanks a ton! I went and bought a new seal and rear gasket anyway.

Both the seal and gasket are very easy to replace. The hard part is torquing the pinion nut to ~250ftlbs. While you're back there, you ought to put a new vent tube on as well.

to change the gasket you gotta take out the center section to do that you just gotta pull out the axles theres 4 nuts to take off the backing plate for the axles then unbolt the center section and pull it out
