I plan on removing the in-cab gas tank from my 71 F250 to install a full cage. I was looking at installing a 31-gallon apt axle tank from Transfer Flow and a late-model flip door (on the bed) for a clean gas-supply setup. I'm not a fan of the cheesy saddle tanks.
Surprisingly, Transfer Flow did not want to sell a tank since it was going to be used for a different year (liability thing). I know I can probably just order it and include any modifications necessary for fit, but I started thinking, many of the early Ford owners remove the in-cab tank for various reasons. What's the best set-up for tank replacement? Any suggestions?
Thanks
I want to do the same thing. I will kill for a " Chessie SAddle tank " My truck has a dump body. There are places that will make whatever you want , just call it a hydraulic reservoir and make sure the plumming is coorect. I have struck out trying to laocate the 1971 vintage as well. Does that place you mention have a web site ? Try www.aerotanks.com but be ready to spend some $$$$$ . Best of luck.

I put a 64-68 mustang gastank in the back of the frame. You can find info on this sight under the teck articles. I have a 72 ford truck I had to do a little modification to the frame like moving a cross member back about 5 inches.
