4.6 tapping
Is there anyone out there that can answer my question?
I have a 2006 f 150 w/4.6 liter V8 and have a slight tapping noise comming from the top of the engine, Dealer said it is the timing phaser and it is normal nothing to worry about and if it gets louder to bring it in. I have just over 3500 miles now and when I spoke to the dealer I had 300 miles. Engine still tapping just at an idle.
Does this sound normal for this engine or am I getting snowballed by the dealer.
Dealer called engineers at ford and they said nothing to worry about, noise is just agravating to me and I don't want to have any issues with this.
Can anybody anser me on this

4.6 tapping
The Ford 5.4 makes a fairly loud ticking noise mainly due to the fuel injectors but I'm not sure about the 4.6. A tapping sound may not be so normal. Try listening to a few other 4.6 F 150's and compare the sound, mabey it is normal or not.
