Sticky cylinder or short???

I have an electrical problem with my truck. The idiot lights and the buzzer will come on even when there is no key in the ignition. Is this because of something sticking inside the ignition cylinder or should I be looking for a short somewhere else in the wiring harness?

Thanks, Chad
