i just bought a 2003 F250 auto. is there a chain that is known for good diesel service i dont want to carry it to no instant oil change place also it has 129000 mi. and i dont know anything about the tranny and i dont want to make it worse by changing the fluid at such a high mileage right now the tranny is doing great but i would like to change ALL the fluids to insure i get years and years of service from this truck
Where do you live? I live in AZ and Fletchers tire and auto have a lifetime oil change and lube for 500.00. They use rotella oil, they rotate my tires every other oil change, lube and check all other fluids while there. Today they completely flushed and chemical treated my tranny and added new mercon fluid for 69.95. NICE. They do a great job.
I live in GA. on the TENN. border the only one around here is a place called Lee Smith and a Peter Built Service center but i think they only tend to big trucks
I wouls look for an authorized ford or international service center if you cannot find a reliable lube and service place. i was lucky to find Fletchers and they are all great from what I hear, but I really like the one I go to. Check around with others in your area where they have their trucks serviced. Ask them at the diesel pumps guys will always tell you the truth on how their trucks are taken care of.
Lee Smith is a international dealer and service dept. ill see if they can do anything the deal you got going with fletchers sounds pretty good how often do you have to have yours serviced do you do any towing or hauling?
congrats on your purchase. you will not be dissappointed. i feel you can learn more by reading on this forum and doing the service yourself. there is a lot of knowledge on here and these guys are always willing to help but if you dont want to do it yourself i agree with you andwould only take it to a quality diesel shop and not a quick lube
I buy my own oil (Mobil 1 with Mobil 1 filter) and take it to the local oil change place and he does the work for $15, and I don't have to worry what to do with 15 qts of oil..
yeah i have no problem doing the service myself but the diesel shops know the little things to look for
There's really no difference in the "little" things vs a gasser, we just have diesel injectors instead of spark plugs and a higher compression ratio.
Other than that it's the same. Make sure the brakes, wheel bearings, shocks, no leaks, etc.
