I have arrived!!!
Just wanted to say hello to everyone.
I just scored an "UNBELIEVABLY" cherry 1969 F100 Longbed. It is an all original with 71,000 miles.
Long story short, (4 years ago) the elderly man who lived across the street from me passed away. When his son came to pack up the house, he asked for my help carrying some things. On one of the trips, I found some old photos of this truck. I inquired, saying how much I LOVED Ford trucks, and would give anything to own a classic so nice. He told me the story how the truck would never be for sale, that they had bought it new in 69' and would have it forever. We spent the rest of the afternoon, talking Cars. For four years now, I have wondered about that truck, and admired how nice it was.
Fast forward to this last Tuesday Night. I came home late at night only to find an envelope taped to my front door. It was a letter from the Son, stating that he remembered me from 4 years ago (not knowing if I still lived there)
and remembered how much interest I showed in the truck, and to give him a call. I called him yesterday, and said it is mine If I want it. That it was a token of gratitude, of helping him in a time of need. Hoping that I would cherish it like they had.
So...Here I am. Ive been pretty involved in the Mustang/Lightning scene for many years, so Im ready to make this 69' something special. Looking forward to posting here for new ideas, and to share the progress. I pick it up tomorrow morning at 10AM.
