I found a 97' f350 that has a 5.8 in it and is 4wd. Im a bronco owner, but would like to purchase a crew cab 250 or 350. This is a plenty powerful enough engine for the bronco's, just want some feedback about it in a 350? Im not towing anything, just kids and weekend trails. Anything to look out for its got a carax xheck and only has 13k on it. The dealer says its 4wd but carfax says rear so Im not sure. let me knwo what you think http://cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp...4&aff=national
The links not coming up, but cars. com site and search 350 100miles from 07724 crew cab, its blue
hmmmmm. i had a 95 'bronco with the 5.8 and it was a pig. while towing my boat (about 4000#) if there was a moderate head wind it didnt have enough power to get out of second gear. if you are going to tow anything i would pass.
I owned a 96 F-350 4x4 351W 5Spd. 4.10 gears. In fact I bought it new in 96. I put every mile on it look in my gallery for pics.
I loved the truck but hated the 351W I don't know why but even with 4.10 gears it did not seem to get up and go. Don't misunderstand me the truck did everything I asked of it with very little problems but I always longed for more power. If I had to do it over again and I was in the same spot money wise I would of got the 460 for three or four hundred more. I would of gone 7.3LPSD but at that time I could not aford 4000 for just an engine.
I guess to anwer your question it will do what you need it to do but you have to run it a little hard to get it working. Look for a 460 it will get the same mpg and have a ton m ore power.
Maybe mine was just junk who knows?????
Good Luck

we have a 97 F-250 hd with the 351, We use it to snowplow, and carry heavy loads of fertilizer. 80k miles and never ever a problem! motor is bulletproof! i think it has enough power for the average owner. we also have the 460 in one of our other F-350's, nice motor but it eats gas horrribly. ive got 65k on that truck, and 50k of those miles are pulling a heavy trailer, and the other 15k its pushing a snowplow! both are great motors! you cant go wrong!
