I finally got to looking for my block heater cord around the area of the passenger tow hook.
All i found was a flat wire dead ended there, nothing else around.
The wire is a flat 3 conductor. Is this the heater cord? If so does anyone know what the ohm value should be to double check?
Also how many amps?
Wouldn't any pigtail work to connect to this why need a special int'l part number?
thanks
jason
As above, driver's side tow eye.
As you face it, reach in to the left (toward center truck), feel around and down. You'll find a half inch round ribbed line. It's zip-tied down, reach down, find the tie and pull it.
You need to have smaller hands as opposed to huge paws to reach in there.
On Dodge trucks the engine block heater is on ALL trucks, if you buy the option they attach the cord for it. The only thing missing if you dont by the option is the cord. Is Ford doing the same thing? Has anyone actually seen the block heater on a V10? There are about 5 different kinds available aftermarket, I'm just curious which Ford has chose to use, and if there is some unused equipment on my truck (I didnt order the factory heater). Thanks!
Jason, is this the only one up there?
If so, and if it has a 3 pronged plug on it, then it is the heater cord.
Must be a Tuesday truck.
They rig most of the harnesses on Thursday.
Ok Jason, then keep looking inside the driver's tow eye area.
If you have a heater installed, you will find the plug there.
It's tight and hard to see, keep at it...
Every truck has the heater from the factory. But, if you dont pay for the option the dealer takes a pair of wire cutters and cuts the plug off the end of the cord.
OK, I dont think thats true, just kidding... But would it suprise anybody?!?!?!!

you have most likely found the heater wire. right type, right area. put a plug on it and plug it in, listen closely and if it sounds like your truck is goinig to make a pot of coffee , you got. good luck. Phil
