Not sure if reading thread corrrectly. The **** is held by concentric spring. The heater control shaft inserts into **** and secured by the spring. On the underside of **** there should be a small opening(slot) where by inserting a small pointed tool of some type you release spring tention and the **** will come off. Can't recall if release by appling pressure back or forward. Don't force, does not take much and do not want to damage retainer.
