This doesn't have to do with my truck, but rather a piece of shop equipment. I just got an old snap on service writer's desk for free. I am pretty sure it is steel, but the paint that is on there has seen far better days. What is the easiest way to refinish this (paint it) so that it will last, without having to strip it to bare metal and start all over. I am looking for rattle can or brush/roller applications.
Are you doing the desk top or the sides? If it's the sides, and it's in a shop, I done mine with some of that spray on bed liner. It looks cool and I didn't have to strip it or anything. Plus you can paint over the stuff to have any color you want with that textured look.
It needs the top and all four sides, it has been in a shop a long time and neglected. I don't need it to be a show quality piece, but I also don't want it to look like it has been drug down the highway for a hundred miles, and I want to stop any rust from forming. I didn't know you could paint over the top of the spray/roll on bedliners. That might be a good idea for the sides.
I don't think you can spray over the profesional spry on liner. But the spray bomb stuff from advance is paintable. As far as the top, you do need to sand that nice and smooth. I would paint it, and then hit it with a few heavy coats of clear.
