I know it could go in the tire forum, but no one knows better than the 73-79 crew. I was wondering if going from 33's to 37's will drop my gas mileage enough so i should hang on to my 33's and rims and get new rims and 37's. I go home 3 times a year (150 one way). How much will the 37's drop it. Its a 79' f250, 8" lift, 4x4. I only get7 now. Is it worth hangin onto em or should i sell em. How much will it drop.

if all you're gettin' is 7, I wouldn't worry abou it. You might drop a mile per gallon or so, but extra air resistence isn't what's limiting your gas mileage IMO.
YOur not gonna notice any difference if your only getting 7 so don't worry about it plus those 37's will make your truck look better than those 33's with that much lift.
When it had 33/12.50s on it I got around 6-7mpg. Larger tires help a little when you get going out on the highway due to the rpm decrease but lots of city driving they dont due to larger mass to get rolling.
If you had money, a gear change could be a option, but if you have 4.10s already stock, then you should be ok. Go with the 37s, will look better, and I don't even think you'll loose much mpg. Not telling you how to drive, but try taking it alittle easyer on accleration and see how much more mpg you get. Works for me!
