new coil ??

Fellas do you gain anything from getting a more expensive coil and not changing anything else i.e. dist, points I have a over the counter coil from schucks and was thinking about buying a chrome one from summit that looks like it puts out more volts,,,,, would I gain anything?? besides looks and I guess what is the best way to go for improvement besides dist.

I think that one putting out more volts will fire the plugs alittle hotter, I have been running a supercoil from Eccel for a very long time on a 428 with a stock dist. with points, I had to put on a resister on the coil to stop it from burnning the points. It works great and the plugs stay burnning clean.

I cut into the wire going to the dist. from the coil. I can't say if I noticed any better starts, it has been on there about 30 years and I don't remenber, I'm getting older and CRS somethimes. But my starts did get better when I put on the ele choke on the carb., it has had no choke on the engine sence I put it in the car in 1973.
