Ok decided I was tired of my system. Getting rid of my two rear 6"x8"s (stock size) and their amp and putting two 6"x9" behind my seats for a little more bass fill. I'm thinking I'll stay with Pioneer.
Anybody know of a good amp, not looking for blasting power, preferebly four channel, that I can get behind my Ranger's regular cab single seat with two 6"x9"s in their own boxes?
I'm not putting a sub back there. I tried it and I don't like it, I couldn't get the sub to get with the music per say, it was way too quiet to be noticeable, even with the gain all the way up and juice boost on. Annoying as everything. Anyways, getting rid of that to and I'm not putting a sub back in.
Sound like a plan? Any more suggestions, I like customizing. I just need to keep the price reasonable as I'm saving to complete the 302 swap into it.
Just last week for four nights in a row I worked on four guys trucks that work construction together. They were all Chevy trucks but I won't hold that against them. 2 four doors and 2 supercabs. They use thier trucks and didn't want to loose any space if they didn't have to.
With thier trucks we went with DB Drive Platinum Series components for the front doors and used the DB Drive Speed Series for the backs. For power to the speakers we put a DB Drive Speed Series SPA80.4 amplifier. This amp is rated at 80 watts per channel.
One guy sprung a few extra bucks for the SPA120.4 which is 120 watts per channel. Had his speakers screaming.
We didn't need a sub. This combo rocked thier trucks perfect for them. One guy put in Master of Puppets I think he creamed his pants...lol All four of the systems used the factory radios.
One thing that is really cool about the Platinum Series Coaxials is that they come with a crossover. You basically get the compontent system sound but out of a coaxial.
Here in about an hour I will have the pics up on the website and will display them here for ya.
I really think you should save up for a new HU rather than the one you have, better quality HU's make the sound better. I know when I have in my Blaupunkt the sound is warm feeling and sounds awesome, but with my cheap Pioneer the sound is tinney and sounsd hollow.
That would be my third HU Romer, I'm gettin' tired of gettin' new ones! lol. I gotta get you guys some pics of a Ranger they have on display near here, INCREDIBLE sound system.
Anyways, KCAutosound, I'd love to take a look at that. How much money are we talking and where can I get the speakers and amp? I really want sound quality, but every now and then I love to crank it up.
*Mental note to self: insulate doors...that rattling is getting irritating*
Anyways, I'm going outside now to pull the amp out, I'll be back in a little while and check in then. Thanks for your help guys.
hmmm... I was posting that from my phone but it was on another forum topic. Somehow it wound up here....lol
Anyways here are some pics of the DB Drive Platinum Series PLT5.7s These are installed on all four doors. Even running off of an aftermarket headunit these screamed. Later that day we installed a 80x4 DB Drive amplifer
Anyways, good lookin' pictures. Everything's out now, starting to look for new speakers (get paid today) and other associated things to run.
First and only priority for today is insulating my door, then I'm going to work on everything else, catch ya'll later. Suggestions for speakers? And where to get them.
