What year?
If it's fuel-injected, you'll have to release the pressure in the system.
If carbed, you'll get some drainage from what's in the line, but then it'll just drip.
Invest in a Chiltons.

it's a 86 302 efi. yes i should invest in a book, i guess i am getting cheap from buying so many new parts the last couple months. i never thought that a ford could break down. i'm allways driving the ford to get parts for the chevy.

Since it's EFI, there's a fuel pressure release switch in the cab on the passenger side floorboard. Once you disconnect it, you'll only have minimal draining when you disconnect any of the lines for dual-function reservoir. There is no need to drain the tanks
Buy a Haynes manual for $12, it will really help and will save you more than $12 in the long run.

Good luck!
