73-79 bed question

73-79 bed question
I took a 4' long straight edge to the trim area on the side of my bed and noticed a 1/8" or so outward bow at about the wheel well area. I noticed this on both sides and looked underneath for signs of damage and found none.
I had someone else look at it that he suggested that it might be the way Ford made it. I know the bed has a small flare area around the fender well, but what I don't know is if the area just outside the bed side trim (lower side) is bowed out a bit.
The top ridge above the trim seems to be straight but the bottom ridge seems to flare out. Can someone out there with a clean 73_79 long bed, check if the ridge under the side trim is straight or bumps out around the wheel area?
Thanks, I just don't want to start pounding on something that doesn't need it.

Yep, I have a 79 that has that too,
I have a big dent between there and the cab,
I was trying to get it out when I noticed the same thing you are talking about,
I am sure it's suposed to be there,
I used to have A 78 super cab and I never noticed it on that truck, but then again it didnt have any dents (wish I still had that truck) I also had a 65 short bed I REALLY wish I had that truck back!!!!!
